Why should I become a member of a church?

"Then they that gladly received His word were baptized: and the same day there was added unto them about three thousand souls." - Acts 2:41

Those who believed in Christ were baptized and then added to the church.

How do I become a member of First Baptist Church?

There are three ways we receive members:

  1. Profession of Faith Followed by Believers Baptism
A profession of faith simply means that you are indicating that you have personally trusted Christ to be your Savior and that you want to be obedient to Christ and be baptized as a symbol of that profession of faith. When you are baptized you automatically become a member of the church.

  2. Transfer of Church Membership from Another Baptist Church
When you indicate your desire to transfer membership from another Baptist Church, our church secretary will write to that church notifying them that you have requested a transfer of membership. That church will then send a statement indicating that your membership has been transferred to First Baptist Church.

  3. Statement
If you are a member of a church of another denomination or if for some reason you are unable to provide a letter of transfer from another Baptist Church, we will receive you as a member on your statement that you have professed faith in Christ and been baptized by immersion as a symbol of your profession.

During the time of public invitation at the end of the sermon you may request to become a member by speaking to one of the pastors who will be waiting to receive you at the front of the worship center. If you have any questions, one of the pastors would be happy to meet with you privately.
